Cookie Gifts In A Jar

Basic Supplies:

• Quart size canning jars with lids (wide mouth jars work the best)
• Scrap of fabric
• Ribbon
• Glue
• Printed recipe and the ingredients

Filling The Jar:

• Wash and thoroughly dry the jars and lids
• Decorate (see below)
• Pick a recipe and gather your ingredients
• Layer the ingredients in the order given
• Before adding the next ingredient, pack each layer (Lightly tap on a counter to "settle" the ingredients)
• Attach a gift tag along with the mixing and baking instructions

To Decorate with Fabric:

• Cut a circle out of the scrap fabric that is at least 6-8 inches across (For ease, trace around the top of a bowl)
• Center the fabric on the jar lid
• Screw the other section of the lid in place to hold the fabric
• Fluff the fabric out from under the lid

Print the Recipe:

• Write out, or, print from the computer onto recipe cards the recipe you have chosen.
• If not using thick paper (hard-stock paper), make sure you reinforce for a little extra strength
• Use a hole puncher and make a small hole in the upper left hand corner

Decorating with Ribbon:

• Cut ribbon in 3 feet lengths
• Thread the ribbon though the hole in your recipe. 
• Wrap the ribbon around the jar lid and tie it into a bow
• Secure behind the bow and in the back with a small dab of glue, or, use double-stick tape
