Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies

Turtle Candies are a mixture of toasted pecans, soft caramel and chocolate laid out to resemble a whimsical turtle shape. This cookie version adds a crust, and remains one of my favorite cookies.

Once upon a time in the land of America, in the southern land below the Smokey Mountains, there lived a delightful little dark haired, blue eyed girl. And when she grew up and moved from that soft Southern style to the sunny seashores of the Southern West coast of the States, she brought along with her a love for family, for friends, and for good food. Her Southern charm radiated not only from her smile, but from all the mouth-watering treats she always made.

That little girl was my mother. And my mom loved her family - and her family included EVERYBODY. Friends, Family, Neighbors - our family seemed to be so huge!! Everybody in our neighborhood knew her as Auntie Bea, and let me tell you, she was a busy as a Bea could be ...

Her good humor and sweet nature was infectious. It wasn't unusal for the neighborhood kids to show up after school for something sweet. Christmas was a bake-fest with so many different cookie and bars and candy going in and out of our house ... oh my!

Now I want to share all those good treats, and some new ones I've found along the way. I'm inviting EVERYBODY, all over the world, to share in these recipes. It's going to be one big cookie adventure!

Time spent with your family can never be undone.
